Citroen Unveils The C5 Aircross

Citroen has unveiled its latest vehicle to join its growing SUV portfolio, the C5 Aircross.

Currently under study for the Australian market, the C5 has been developed under the Citroen Advanced Comfort programme.

Equipped with the suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions®and Advanced Comfort seats, it offers a new and typically Citroën travelling experience.

It boasts unrivalled modularity with three individual sliding, folding and inclining rear seats and best-in-class boot capacity of 580L to 720L

Modern and high-tech, New C5 Aircross SUV is equipped with 20 driver assistance systems including Highway Driver Assist, a level-two autonomous driving system, and Grip Control with Hill Assist Descent, for adventures off the beaten track.

It also comes with six connectivity technologies, including wireless smartphone charging.
Produced in France at the Rennes-La Janais site, it will be launched in Europe and the rest of the world starting in late 2018 and will be the first Citroën vehicle to come in a plug-in hybrid version at the end of 2019.

After C3 Aircross, a resounding sales success having sold in 80,000 units, C5 Aircross, launched in China and having already sold in 40,000 units, and C4 Aircross, unveiled in late April at the Beijing Motor Show, Citroën is pursuing its international SUV offensive with the reveal of the European version of C5 Aircross.

Listening closely to the expectations of customers who do not want to forfeit practicality for image anymore, Citroën is moving into the SUV segment, a growing market accounting for a quarter of car sales worldwide, by offering motorists an alternative response. To the aspirational body styling of the model, Citroën has added a whole new experience of in-car comfort. The move demonstrates the Brand’s ability to reassert, in addition to its unique identity, benchmark comfort by opening the way to a new generation of SUVs inspired by customers.

Boasting a strong personality, New C5 Aircross SUV stands apart through its singular, energetic and assertive attitude. Measuring 4.50 m long, robust and muscular, powerful but free of arrogance, the new model stands out in the SUV segment with its flowing shapes punctuated with strong graphic touches such as the Airbump®, large 720 mm-diameter wheels, ground clearance of 230 mm and distinctive roof bars.

The cabin instantly gives an impression of protection and spaciousness, with an emphatically horizontal dashboard and enveloping seats, a height position that gives the feeling of dominating the road, as well as a wide central console and warm materials. Like the latest Citroën models, C5 Aircross has a broad range of customisation features.

Some 30 combinations are available outside, with seven body colours, a black two-tone roof offering and three Color Packs comprising coloured inserts on the front bumper, the Airbump® on the lower part of the front doors, and the roof bars. It also comes with five interior ambiances, whose matching colours and materials afford clarity and warmth in a trendy and premium “casual chic” style.

An ambassador of the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme, New C5 Aircross SUV stands out through its comfort and approach to interior space. It innovates with its typically Citroën overall comfort and two major innovations: Citroën’s suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® and Advanced Comfort seats with their unrivalled ability to filter out road disturbances and offer matchless ride comfort, the result being an outstanding travelling experience for all passengers.

New C5 Aircross SUV delivers unique modularity in the segment deriving from Citroën’s singular know-how in the world of MPVs, with three individual, sliding, folding and inclining rear seats and best-in-class boot volume of 580 l to 720 l.

In tune with its times and equipped with a 12.3” TFT digital instrument cluster and 8” capacitive touchscreen, New C5 Aircross SUV features 20 latest-generation driver assistance systems, including Highway Driver Assist, a level-two autonomous driving system, as well as six advanced connectivity technologies.

The new, ultra-connected model is equipped with wireless smartphone charging, or the ConnectedCAM Citroën®. Powered by efficient and high-performance petrol and diesel engines ranging from 130 bhp to 180 bhp and the new EAT8 automatic gearbox,
C5 Aircross will be the first Citroën to be available with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology in late 2019.

Set for launch at the end of 2018 in Europe, New C5 Aircross SUV will be produced in France at the Rennes-La Janais plant.
