Presenting The New Sportage – The Ultimate Choice In A Medium SUV
The fifth-generation all-new Kia Sportage has landed in Australia and is set to hit Kia showrooms with an equal mix of style and substance.
Carefully crafted from the ground up to be the ultimate medium SUV, the all-new Sportage symbolises the pioneering DNA of the Kia brand. The past success of the Sportage is deeply rooted in a mindset of constant reinvention. Under the new Kia brand, the fifth-generation Sportage once again brings an innovation that elevates the brand to the next level.
Designers focused on creating an intelligent package and clever use of space so that all occupants can benefit from increased room and its everyday family-friendly practicality and useability.
The all-new Sportage provides an impressive array of safety technology featuring both passive and active high-tech systems, including Kia’s world-renowned comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
Advanced powertrains make the all-new Sportage an economical operator with its frugality matched to smooth and highly responsive power delivery, resulting in an SUV that is energetic, sporty and fun-to-drive.
Paired with Kia Australia’s locally tuned ride and handling package, the all-new Sportage really is a force to be reckoned with.
“All-new Sportage is an excellent package offering an innovative, sophisticated and let’s not forget localised, medium SUV choice to buyers in an increasingly competitive segment,” said Kia Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Damien Meredith.
“The fifth-generation is a substantial evolution over the outgoing Sportage and is a true reflection of Kia’s future. Not just another step forward but a bold move to a new level, reflecting how far Kia has come and where we are going.
“Sportage is an integral part of our sales initiatives, aspirations and ultimately, our success. This new generation provides another opportunity for both Kia and the dealer network to build on our brand strength and customer experience.”
For the Australian market the all-new Sportage will arrive in S and GT-Line trims initially with SX to follow in late November and SX+ arriving in early January.
Depending on the trim chosen, a choice of up to three engines are available; the proven 2.0-litre MPI (115kW and 192 Nm) for S, SX and SX+, an improved 2.0-litre diesel (137kW / 416Nm) available in all grades and the new to the range 1.6-litre T-GDI (132kW / 265Nm) which is exclusive to SX+ and GT-Line.
The 2.0 petrol models will feature the choice of a six-speed manual (S and SX) or automatic (S, SX and SX+) gearbox driving the front wheels only. For those preferring AWD, this is available in the 2.0 diesel with a re-engineered 8-speed automatic transmission offered across all trims and the new torquey 1.6 petrol variant matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (7DCT), available in SX+ and GT-Line.
Recommended retail pricing starts at $32,445 for the 2.0-litre petrol S in manual and tops out at $52,370 for the GT-Line diesel.
As with the outgoing model, the all-new Sportage continues to offer medium SUV buyers an outstanding package of features:
